Babak Poushanchi is Founder and Partner of Cota Capital, a San Francisco-based firm investing in private and public U.S.-based modern enterprise technology companies. Launched in 2015, the Firm has over $1 billion in assets under management, is SEC-registered, and focuses its investments in the areas of Modern Infrastructure, Enterprise Automation, FinTech, and HealthTech.
As Partner, Babak works full time on building and scaling an enduring Firm, serving on all Firm Committees and Councils, and overseeing investments and research across the Firm’s private and public portfolios. As Portfolio Manager of the Cota Growth Fund, Babak is directly responsible for the Firm’s public investments. Babak is well-known for being a conscientious leader who serves with integrity, and for his deep domain expertise in enterprise technology.
Prior to Cota, Babak served as Co-Founder and Co-Portfolio Manager of Newbrook Capital, a global equity long/short fund focused on investments across the technology, media, consumer, and industrial sectors. Babak was also a Venture Partner at Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, a leading technology accelerator based in New York.
Previously, Babak was on the investment teams at Karsch Capital, a global equity long/short fund focused on public investments across all sectors, and Indosuez Capital, a leading middle market merchant banking group focused on equity and debt private investments across the capital structure and a broad range of sectors.
Babak received a B.A. in Economics from Northwestern University.
